fábrica — project proposal
2500 m2 — 2022
Hub Criativo Beato, Lisbon
A Fábrica takes place in the heart of the 3 hectares of former military handling factories in the Beato district of Lisbon.
Located within the larger project of the Hub Creativo Beato the project proposes the appropriation of the former flour factory of the Portuguese army in a large-scale mixed cultural program. Intended for the digital arts, all the spaces of the old grain silos are invested and offer the visitor a cohabitation of diversified uses.
The project proposes to highlight this industrial heritage by reinforcing its identity. Important element of the Lisbon skyline, the silos are thought of as a real cathedral; made of concrete and open to the city.
The Digital & Visual Art Center (950 m2), is developed over the first 3 levels of the building. It takes advantage of the monumentality of spaces and volumes to integrate an innovative artistic program.
Like a white thread, linking the past to the present, the scenography displayed in white lacquered metal unfolds vertically in the heart of these high concrete walls.
A monumental spiral staircase invites you to climb again and again until you escape reality.
The Experimental Music Club (800 m2) is created in the bowels of the building, at its deepest point.
With each new pulse, the incandescent atmosphere of the place brings us closer to our own past and invites us to dream, to the rhythm of this heart that continues to beat.
Finally, on the top floor, at an altitude of more than 35 m, the 500 m2 Attic bistro opens onto a 360° panoramic view.
Light and airy, space and time are suspended.
Now it’s about taking a break and enjoying that precious time that keeps slipping away.
