flores
550 m2 — january 2021
R. Manuel Bernardes, Lisboa
Flores takes place in a modest building in the centre of Lisbon, in the district of Principe Real.
By its particular urban situation, it consists of two buildings. The main one, facing the street, is spread over three levels. Behind it, an internal patio provides access to the adjoining building.
This is the interior rehabilitation of a set of seven apartments, ground floor and outdoor spaces in a mixed residential project of Co-living. Each apartment can be rented for a medium or long-term, and each inhabitant can use the common areas at his convenience.
The project was designed by the interior designer Noémie le Naour (co-founder of some slowconcept in Marrakech), and executed by the studio.
The ground floor faces the corner of the street and offers a café and a work area of 100 m2. A central open kitchen is shared and can be privatized for events. Hidden behind discreet natural linen curtains, we discover a relaxation area consisting of a hammam and a massage room.
On the current floor, the main staircase distributes two apartments per level, of the same type; they are each distinguished by their colorimetric treatment, a subtle play of nuances in a coherent whole.
Despite the limited spatial characteristics imposed by the frame of the wooden structure, the use of simple materials allows an optimization of the spaces, letting the natural light enter to the maximum for the benefit of the apartment. The execution details have been studied on site for this purpose.
The patio is the access to the two duplex apartments. The vegetation that settles there offers freshness and shade during the harshest summer hours. The materials used echo the near and distant horizons of Lisbon and question the notion of origin.
The zelliges hand-made in Morocco, as well as the smoothed concrete coating, give the spaces a soft and welcoming atmosphere, dear to the references of the project.
